Great Grandma's Coffee Tin

So I guess when Tom was a baby he would use his Grandmother's coffee tin as a drum. Maddie has inherited the tin and is carrying on the tradition.

In the one video you'll see she isn't even phased when she bangs her head with the tin... such a good-natured baby!

Sleepy Baby

A long day at daycare. She was exhausted last night. I told Tom that sometimes it's hard for me to put her down in her crib because I just love holding her and hearing her breath on me.

8 months old

It's hard to believe that yesterday was Maddie's 8 month birthday. She has grown so much. Here are some 8-month facts about Maddie:

Favorite foods - anything! She is eating solids including crackers, cookies, veggies (carrots, peas, green beans), some meats (cubed ham, shredded turkey), pasta, fruits (peaches, pears, mandarin oranges, bananas). She is also eating Stage 3 baby food and baby treats like puffs & yogurt melts.

Favorite toys - anything that she can shake that makes noise. She also loves to pound toys against other toys to make noise. And she LOVES LOVES LOVES her music table.

Favorite games - peek a boo, jumping or bouncing, swinging, making funny faces, playing with Daddy's guitar, tickling, splashing water in the bathtub, raspberry kisses.

She also loves to clap and give hugs. She is learning to kiss but its really just pressing her sloppy face against your face. She can clap and wave goodbye.

Things that are difficult with Maddie - washing her face... she knows right away when she sees a wipe coming and immediately turns her head and starts to fuss. Diaper changing - she is a big squirmer, constantly trying to roll over and crawl away.

Maddie is generally a super happy baby, always smiling and laughing. Never cries and gets along with everyone. Sleeps 10-12 hrs at night. Doesn't give us a problem with anything - not even when its time to take a nap, or get strapped into the car, or cleaning her ears. She has been a tremendous blessing and we can't imagine our lives without her.

Here's a video from tonight... she was eating yogurt melts after dinner. She burps, laughs and makes all kinds of fun noises. Enjoy!!

Time with the Munchkin During the Storm

At least the blizzards allowed for some opportunities to hang out with the munchkin.
All my babies!!
I forced Tom to smile for a picture but then everyone else looked away... oh well.
An afternoon nap...

A Blizzard We'll Never Forget

The 30+ inches of snow that we got from February 9-11th. As the snow melted over the following week, the icycles above the front door were over 6 ft long and nearly touched the drifts below. They were about 5 inches in diameter at the top. Crazy!
The view when I opened the back door of the garage. The drifting was so high back there that you can't see our table/chairs or the hot tub.
This was the first pass of the snow blower. It left about 4-5 inches of snow behind that we had to go back over and re-blow because the snow was so high.
That's our mailbox out there. And that was before the snow plow came through and buried it.
The view when we opened the garage door. Fortunately my car was in the garage but Tom's Sequoia is too tall to pull in so it becomes quite a pain to clean off.

Cookie Monster

Maddie enjoyed her first cookie... and then an immediate dip in the bathtub. I also included a picture of me when I was 9 months old eating my first cookie. Can you tell which one is me??

Like mother... like daughter... We both love our cookies! Num num num num num ;-)

All the Kids Playing Together

I love that Madison and the puppies get along so well. I try to get them to play together every evening and tonight they were especially cute so I snapped a ton of pictures... Enjoy!

To me, this picture looks so much like Tom.
Hilarious!! She uses her stool to stand up and then pound all her toys against them. She loves when things make noise... just like Daddy!

This one is so devious... but totally cute too.
Half her time banging toys together and the other half of the time she tastes all of her toys.
My little girls play together! Love it!

Eating

The puppies lie in wait... knowing that eventually a piece of food will drop.
Zoey decides to be clever... just in case the food somehow falls through the seat.
And of course... Maddie never fails to wind up with puffs stuck everywhere.
Tonight she tried "real food" (pears) for the first time... She seemed to enjoy them... and thank goodness for the bowl with the suction cup bottom.
